Terms of Use
English translation of our Conditions générales d'utilisation. In case of discrepancy, the French version prevails.
1. Purpose
These terms govern the use of the Adsum app and website (the "Application"), which connects users looking for spiritual support (the "Laypeople") with volunteer spiritual assistants (the "Assistants"), each affiliated with an organisation (chaplaincy, diocese, association or equivalent body, the "Organisations").
2. Accounts and roles
A Layperson account can be created freely. An Assistant account is always affiliated with an Organisation and only becomes active once that Organisation has approved it: signing up is not enough to obtain this status.
3. Appointments
Appointments are booked by Laypeople on the time slots published by Assistants, either in person or by video call depending on the format offered. Either party may cancel an upcoming appointment from the Application; the time slot is then released.
4. Video calls
Video appointments use a third-party audio/video service (LiveKit). No recording of the conversation is made by the Application, unless explicitly stated otherwise.
5. Donations
The support provided by Assistants is voluntary and unpaid. Some Organisations may offer an optional donation system, managed at their level, to support their activity. A donation is never a condition for obtaining an appointment.
6. Expected behaviour
Every user undertakes to use the Application respectfully. Organisations may suspend or withdraw the access of a member (Layperson or Assistant) in the event of a breach.
7. Account deletion
Any user may request the deletion of their account from the Application settings, or through our dedicated page if they no longer have access to it. This operation is irreversible and results in the deletion of the associated personal data, in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
8. Changes to these terms
The publisher of Adsum (identified in the legal notice, in French) may amend these terms. Users will be informed of any substantial change.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by French law. Any dispute falls under the jurisdiction of the French courts, subject to the mandatory rules applicable to consumers.
